Unlock Your Potential

Providing opportunities & pathways into the music, sport, media and creative industries.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundations newest partnership with Laureus and Footlocker will over the next 12-months bring together iconic and aspirational street brands with local partners. In and around Brixton we will deliver a programme that echoes the blend of sport, music, and fashion, we see more and more in street culture in Brixton and beyond.

Our programme for young people aged 13-21 will deliver a range of community sessions and training initiatives, focusing on personal and social development through sport, music, media and the arts.

Working with local partner organisations sessions will be delivered in local community spaces such as Brixton Jamm, by local sports coaches, music industry professionals, and recognised role models. The FREE evening sessions will include; skills & drills sessions, creative workshops in digital arts, as well as local heritage discovery sessions by Black Cultural Archives (BCA.)

As part of our weekly sessions, all young people will be offered support from coaches and youth workers around mental and physical health and wellbeing as well as support with any individual issues they are experiencing. All young people will also have access to and be supported through a range of training and progression opportunities, including: skills development and production workshops that will teach industry specific skills that can be used across the sports media, music, and digital industries.

As the programme progresses participants will enjoy careers events and talks and support to unlock traineeships and career progression routes. Accredited training provided through the programme will include Community Sports Leaders Awards (CSLAs), Asdan and Arts Awards, and Open College Network accredited training.

Following their leadership training, young people will be supported through social action opportunities enabling them to apply their new skills in their own community projects, events, and tournaments. As a partnership we will also support young people through onward training and career progression opportunities with a range of local and national partners.
